CII- Madhya Pradesh, India’s largest stock exchange National Stock Exchange of India limited (NSE) and the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), joined hands to organise an outreach program for small and medium enterprise (SME) units in Bhopal on Friday. The objective of the program was to familiarise them with an alternate option for raising capital.
The NSE- EMERG platform–a market place for SME companies to list in India- helps growing enterprises to approach capital markets as a viable option for raising capital in an efficient manner. Such listings often help SME units to scale up the businesses to compete globally. Once listed, the company may enjoy a higher profile and greater visibility.
A listed SME entity usually enjoys higher credibility with various stakeholders like customers, vendors, employees, etc and may attract better quality talents.
During the programme, CP Sharma, Chairman, CII Madhya Pradesh State Council spoke about the importance of SMEs and the role of the CII in augmenting their growth. He mentioned that alternative financing such as SME listing should be seriously considered by the SMEs as a means to reach to their true potential and compete globally. This will enable the ‘Make in India’ movement.
Muralidhar Rao, ED, SEBI spoke about SEBI’s role in ensuring fair trade and its role in monitoring the financial market. He also highlighted measures that SEBI has taken in promoting the SME listing platform as a part of SEBI's continuous endeavor towards market development.
The market regulator has ensured that the entry norms for SMEs are flexible and accordingly, any company with post-issue paid up capital (face value) up to `25 crore can raise funds and list on the SME Platform.
“SMEs play a critical role in nation building yet they often struggle to get capital. NSE -EMERGE platform provides easy, reliable and transparent platform for fresh equity capital raising. NSE is committed to creating a conducive environment to support the unique requirements of SME companies. We have been working closely with various stake and we are delighted that large number of SME entrepreneurs are contacting us to explore listing possibilities,” said Ravi Varanasi, Group Head-Equity, Equity Derivatives and SME.
