Manzar demands probe against Mehdi

The ongoing war of words between Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy Secretary Nusrat Mehdi and internationally acclaimed Urdu poet from the State capital Manzar Bhopali reached the door of Governor on Monday.

Unhappy over the mudslinging against him in the episode, Manzar called on the Governor on Monday and handed over a memorandum to him demanding enquiry of the corruption in the MP Urdu Academy since Mehdi took over as its secretary about ten – eleven years back.

In his memorandum, Manzar said that in order to cover up her corruption Mehdi is misusing her womanhood and misleading everyone by leveling baseless allegations against him so that under pressure he would be forced to withdraw the complaint that he had made against her to the Chief Minister.

Manzar alleged that regarding over a decade’s corruption in the Academy, he had lodged complaint on March 2 to the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, as he is the chairman of the Academy.

Angered by the complaint, Mehdi leveled baseless allegations in the media. “Through the media, I have come to know that she even submitted applications with Mahila police station and State Woman Commission. She is doing all this to divert the attention from the main issue that is corruption by her in the academy,” he added.

“I stick to my words, but would not take responsibility of the words she is trying to put in my mouth. I had alleged that the academy was being of saffronized and that was proved when she being a government officer addressed a press conference in an RSS affiliated body’s office. That move was also to warn me that if I do not keep quiet, the saffron organization would silence me,” Manzar told the media persons soon after meeting with Governor.

Meanwhile, Mehdi who had earlier reported the case with the Mahila police station on Friday and has also approached the Madhya Pradesh Woman Commission (MPWC) on the same day, appeared before the Commission on Monday. “I was called today by the Commission chairperson lata Wankhede as on Friday when I submitted my complaint she was not available in the office. After hearing me she called on IG Bhopal Yogesh Chowdhary and SP South Anshuman Singh to urge them for speedy action in the case,” she said.

However, IG Chowdhary told ‘The Pioneer’ that it was just a courtesy call and no discussion about this issue was held.
