Many support MP Govt teachers' May 12 protest

Several organisations have come out in support of the Madhya Pradesh Government Teachers Association’s protest against increase of privatisation in school system, biased education policy and deplorable condition of Government teachers scheduled for May 12.

Shiksha Adhikar Manch  and Palak Mahasangh  have decided to support the Madhya Pradesh Government Teachers Association’ protest on May 12.

The organisations, which have lend their support, believe that the policies implemented in the last two decade have lead to the worsening of the condition of the Government schools in the State and the conditions of the teachers in these schools is also the result of the same policies.

The teachers have to face discriminating service terms, unequal salary, lack of basic amenities and work culture, increasing work load of non-educational work and this is result of unfair education policies.

Instead of making the education system better, State Government is preparing for implementing PPP model for Government schools. However, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has claimed that Government schools would not be managed with the help of private firms, but the commitment of the State could be proved only after improved policies for Government school systems are devised.

Shiksha Adhikar Manch, Bhopal has raised demands to devise three year plan aiming to provide infrastructure, basic amenities and facilities equivalent to the Central Schools. All the categories of the teachers should be merged as permanent teacher cadre. None of the teachers should be assigned non-educational work.

Activists of Manch told that they would continue to fight for the betterment of the school system in the State.
