In a gruesome incident, a man slashed his wife to death in front of his children in Krishnabagh colony of the city last night. Police have arrested the accused.
According to Vijay Nagar police, the incident occurred on Tuesday night at around 12.30 am when the accused identified as Kailash Kanve, a resident of Krishnabagh colony had a fight with his wife Sawiti over some matter. The verbal dual between the couple turned violent with the accused beating up his wife mercilessly and latter in a fit of anger killed her by slicing her throat with a kitchen knife in front of his two children.
Addl SP Rakesh Singh informed that the accused after killing his wife, remained seated near the body of his wife for half-an-hour and thereafter, left his house. later he reached lIG square where he informed cops of a police patrolling vehicle that someone had killed his wife. Sensing gravity of the situation, the police patrolling vehicle cops informed about the matter to beat incharge and TI Prashant Yadav.
After sometime, TI Yadav and ASP Rupesh Duvedi accompanied by police jawans reached Kailash’s house at Krishnabagh colony and found body of his wife lying in a pool of blood. A preliminary probe into the matter revealed that the house was locked from inside with blood stain mark. later seeing blood stain in his hand, police suspecting involvement of the deceased’s husband in the murder case, interrogated him but he kept mum.
later, six-year-old son of the accused identified as Rohan informed police that his father killed his mother in front of them. His statement was also corroborated by four-year-old sister Suhana. Thereafter, police took the accused in their custody and brought him to police station where following intense interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the crime. In the meantime, body of the deceased was sent to MY hospital for post-mortem.
According to report, both Kailash his wife Sumitra had married 10 years ago. The couple used to have frequent fight over husband’s habit of drinking liquor. The duo had fought over the same matter last night and it came to such a sorry pass that the accused killed his wife by slicing her throat.
