The body of a 30-year-old man was discovered under mysterious circumstances in a house in the Gautam Nagar police station area two days ago. The short postmortem report has confirmed that he was strangled to death.

Following the report, police have registered a case of murder against an unknown accused and have launched an investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Sonu Gupta, a resident of Krishna Colony who worked as a utensil polisher. According to sources, he had not been to his shop since Monday. Concerned over his absence, the shop owner sent an employee to check on him. Upon reaching his residence, the house was found locked from the outside. Sensing something amiss, they forced the door open and found Sonu lying dead inside.

Police reached the scene and sent the body to Hamidia Hospital for postmortem. The report confirmed strangulation as the cause of death. Investigators are analyzing the call records and other leads from the deceased’s mobile phone. Preliminary findings suggest that the crime was committed by someone known to the victim. A thorough probe is underway.

In a separate incident, a 25-year-old man died after falling from a bike in the TT Nagar area on Saturday night. He had gone out with a friend to eat chowmein when the accident took place.

Police have registered a case and started an investigation by recording the statement of the friend who was riding the bike.

TT Nagar Station in-charge Sudhir Arajaria stated that the deceased, identified as Sagar Verma, was riding pillion when he suddenly fell near the Mata Mandir intersection. His friend, panicked by the incident, sought help from local residents and rushed him to the hospital. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Sagar worked as a driver for an officer at Vallabh Bhawan and was preparing for his wedding this year. His sudden demise has left his family in deep shock. Apart from Sagar, he is survived by his younger brother.
