Cybercrime Bhopal arrested an accused who cheated people in the name of treatment of the girl child by creating a fake Facebook ID in the name of senior police officer from Chitrakoot.
The accused Santosh Gupta had made a fake post in the name of treatment of cancer of the girl by making the identical ID of a senior police officer.
Facebook users confused with the ID of the real police officer and put money in the account of the accused.
The accused has got thousands of rupees from the citizens by citing the cancer of the girl child from the last 3 months using the senior officer Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Bhopal Sachin Atulkar to cheat people.
On May 29, 2022, a written complaint application was made by Wasim Khan resident of Bhopal in the Cyber Crime Branch District Bhopal that on May 28, 2022, fake ID in the name of Additional Commissioner of Police Bhopal money is asked on PhonePe in the name of treatment of a girl child from that Facebook ID which has the photo of Sachin Atulkar .
Case under section 419,420 I.T. and 66C,66D IT Act was registered and taken up for investigation against the users of Facebook account and PhonePe Wallet.
The accused used to send friend requests to people by taking out photos of popular persons from Google on various social media platforms by making fake Facebook IDs and taking out photos of sick children from Google and using their own phones in the name of treatment. He used to deposit fraudulently in the pay wallet and when money was paid in PhonePe Wallet, wallet link used to withdraw cash from own bank account instantly.
One mobile phone and 2 SIM cards used in the crime were seized from the accused.
