Police have registered a case of rape and criminal intimidation against a man for allegedly sexually exploiting a 28-year-old woman on the pretext of marrying her.

Police said Sunil Dutt Verma had sexually exploited the victim for the last three years on the pretext of marrying her and added when she asked him to marry her, Verma refused to marry her. The accused stopped communicating with her and had been trying to escaped from her, which left the victim no options.

A police officer investigating the case said in the year 2010 the victim, who used to work in a private firm at MP Nagar, came in contact with the Verma. Since then, they became friends and soon the friendship turned into a relationship.

Verma maintained the relationship for the past three years during which he lured the victim to marry and established physical relationship several times in the past three years.

Unaware of his intentions the victim asked Verma to keep his promise of marriage but he refused and instead threatened her to keep mum on the issue and to never report the issue to the family and police.  But the undaunted victim mustered courage and reported the issue to her family and lodged a complaint with the TT Nagar police on Wednesday.

Victim is a resident of Sarswati Nagar while Verma is a resident of Sarvadharma Colony.  Verma went missing after the victim lodged a complaint with the police and is still missing. Police have registered a case under section 376 and 506 of the IPC and have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreant.
