MP Council of Science & Technology (MPCST) has established a makeshift clinic on JP Hospital campus, Bhopal for testing Covid-19 patients. The clinic will be handed over to Govt JP Hospital very soon.
CSIR labs of CBRI, Roorkee & AMPRI, Bhopal have jointly developed and transferred technology/ know-how for Makeshift Clinic which is demonstrated and implemented by MPCST & CSIR-AMPPRI, Bhopal. This project is sponsored by MPCST, Bhopal.The developed design for the installation of prefabricated structures results in immediate Makeshift Clinic for Covid-19 patients and other purposes.It makes use of metallic portals framed,foldable, lightweight & durable structure.
Anil Kothari, Director General of Council said that MPCST was set up in 1981 and this year completing nearly four decades of its establishment. During this period Council identified new,significant and relevent areas in which S&T can be utilized for socio-economic development of State people In view of these aims and objectives,Council has establish Science for Socio-economic Development (SSED)division.
Kothari informed that this clinic can be used in rural and urban areas both and set up in a very short span of time. It provides immediate solution of Covid-19 and for other medical purposes and for earthquake and flood prone areas.According to Saroj Bokil, Head, Science for Socio-Economic Development (SSED) division informed that Makeshift Clinic establish in 500 sq. ft.having provision of sampling, registration, medicine, temperature & oxymeter and cabin for Doctor.
Salient Features of Makeshift ClinicAccording to information given by JP Shukla,Senior Principal Scientist, (AMPRI)- Makeshift Clinic is prefabricated metallic portal having features like foldable, easily erectable, reusable, safe, serviceable and comfort to the occupants.
He added that it is cost effective & reusable for other purposes and easy to transport from one place to other. It offers immediate solution to the current crises of Covid-19/other crises by a number of makeshift hospitals, clinics, disaster relief camps, pulse polio drives, earthquake, flood prone areas, seminar/ conference/ exhibition hall etc.
