Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the villagers of his home village Jait have taken a pledge that Jait will be made one of the best villages in the country. On Tuesday, Chouhan started the birthday celebration of all villages and cities of the state once a year, from Jait as Gaurav Diwas. Member of Parliament Ramakant Bhargava and Chief Minister’s wife Sadhna Singh were also present.
Chouhan, while clarifying the concept of celebrating birthdays of villages and cities as Gaurav Diwas said that it is not possible to implement the schemes of the government properly without the participation of the local people. Therefore, it has now been decided that by forming committees of local people, everyone’s participation in all government works will be ensured. He said that such people who have gone away from the village and city due to other business, should also come for one day and make a plan for the development of their town and village by sitting together. He said that local people can also cooperate in many works.
On the initiative of Chouhan, the Gram Sabha at Narmada Ghat in the village passed a resolution to complete more than a dozen works related to life in the coming one year with the consent of the villagers.
The Chief Minister made a proposal in the Gram Sabha that no child born in Jait would be malnourished. It was decided with the consent of the villagers that Poshan Matka would be kept in the village and the villagers would arrange nutritious food for the children by giving food grains as per their capacity. On the suggestion of Chief Minister Chouhan, the Gram Sabha decided that now the IQ of all children will be tested through counseling. There will be no dearth of higher and excellent education for the promising children.
Now lack of land will not hamper development work.
A proposal was made before the Chief Minister in the Gram Sabha that health centres, community halls, Dharamshalas, school buildings etc. should also be constructed. The problem of non-availability of government land for building construction was pointed out. On the call of the Chief Minister, Shri Tahar Singh of the same village assured to give his land for the construction of government building. The Chief Minister told the villagers that no one’s land would be taken forcibly. Government and private land can also be exchanged. The Chief Minister said that he was ready to exchange his land.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that the Narmada belt of Shahganj via Bharkachh and the Pathar Patti connecting a dozen villages of Shahganj with Baktara has been approved. He said that the Pathar Patti road would be developed like a national highway.
