Mahila Cong president condemns Indore rape

Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress President Archana Jaiswal strongly condemned the incident in Indore where a 10 years-old girl was kidnapped and raped for two and half months near the city airport.

“The incident has again exposed the deteriorating law and order situation is the state and has also raised question over functioning of the police and administration here. Criminals are wandering free without any fear. Even in this case the culprit is still at large,” Jaiswal said.

Pointing finger towards Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders she alleged that a BJP office-bearer was found to be involved in sexual harassment of a woman in Gwalior. “This is an embarrassing situation for the state,” she remarked.

“Although the way Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan came forward to provide relief to those affected by calamity in Uttarakhand is appreciable, the question is why he did not show the same keenness in the case of gang-rape in Betma. He did not even go to enquire the condition of the victim then. In the same way, his government sent the rape victim child of Seoni to Nagpur in the name of treatment. Why the chief minister did not go to see herIJ” she remarked.

“Besides, even though the country has still not recovered from the shock of the calamity in Uttarakhand, yet the chief minister is going to get himself felicitated in Indore for his relief efforts. Mahila Congress condemns this in strong terms,” she said.

Meanwhile, state Mahila Congress spokesperson Karuna Sharma informed that the district unit of Mahila Congress in Indore is keeping a constant vigil on the developments there and also pressurizing the administration to nab the culprit soon.
