Madhya Pradesh has become a 'Ghotala Pradesh:' Sonia

Congress president Sonia Gandhi alleged here on Friday that Madhya Pradesh has become 'Ghotala Pradesh.' She accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of indulging in a false propaganda and misleading the people for the sake of coming to power.

Attacking the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government in the state on the issue of Madhya Pradesh Professional Board Examination (MPPEB) scam, she said the state government had promised a job to one person in every family, but what people got instead was a scam, wherein ineligible persons got jobs at the behest of the BJP and the RSS.

Terming Madhya Pradesh as "Ghotala Pradesh" (scam state), Sonia said, "Crores of rupees tumbled out even from houses of low-level employees during raids. One can imagine the amount of money accumulated by corrupt officers and ministers in the state."

Placing the state government in the cross hairs over the issue of corruption, she said, "Madhya Pradesh has become 'Ghotala Pradesh' (state of scams). The professional examination board scam has deprived employment to deserving youths."

She also reminded the people that it was Congress which introduced the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

Firing a broadside at the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh government, Gandhi said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government sent Rs 419 cr for compensation to peasants whose crops were affected by hailstorm.  However, the BJP government did not even bother to get the loss surveyed.

She also claimed that Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in the state launched the existing schemes of the Central government by simply renaming them.

For power, BJP was spreading lies, she said.
