Madarsa teachers to get salary directly in accounts: MP Govt

Fake madarsas running on papers in the State would soon come to an end as the State Government is preparing foolproof strategy to put bridle on them. The Government plans to provide salaries to the madarsa teachers directly in their bank accounts, as large scale rigging in fake names and places is reported from across the State.

Madhya Pradesh Madarsa Board (MPMB), School Education Department of the State and Union Ministry of Human Resources Department (HRD) have joined hands and are gearing up to bridle fake madarsas existing only on papers in the State. If all goes well as per the plan than it is expected that from the coming educational session salaries of madarsa teachers would be directly deposited into their accounts.

Sources from the MPMB informed that of the 6,500 existing madarsas in Madhya Pradesh about 80 per cent are running only on papers. These fake madarsas exists ever since the MPMB has been constituted and discussions to curb them took place off and then but it would be for the first time that some concrete measure would be taken to end them. The new method formulated by the HRD Ministry is that the amounts paid annually to the madarsa committees and directors of the madarsas through cheque should be stopped and instead the amount be transferred directly in the accounts of concerned teachers.

Former MPMB chairman Mohammed Ghani Ansari initiated the efforts in this direction during his tenure and wrote many letters to the School Education Department and the HRD Ministry. Ghani also put up a proposal for the same in the national level Summit of the madarsas held in lucknow that was lauded by one and all. The School Education Department taking note of MPMB chairman’s concern started collecting information of the madarsa teachers ban accounts and appraised the HRD Ministry with the same. All preparations have now been completed and the nod of HRD Ministry is awaited and as soon as the green signal from the union ministry comes the procedure for direct salary deposit in teachers’ bank accounts would be started. MPMB officials expect that from next educational session the scheme would be implements and with that an era to finish the fake madarsas would start in the State.

Notably, HRD Ministry provides a grant of Rs 6000 per month per teacher to the madarsa committees and the amount used to reach annually in the account of committees or societies running madarsa.
