In what could be termed as a unique gesture to boost morale of dutiful and honest police personnel, the leader of Opposition in Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mohammed Sagheer on Thursday handed over a cheque of `10,000 to IG Bhopal for reward to Chhola Police Station in-charge Sudesh Tiwari.
Sagheer was happy with Tiwari’s working as he has nabbed three accused from different places under his police station limits last days and recovered over 40 kilogram of Ganja from their possession.
Sagheer while talking to The Pioneer said, “I don’t know the officer in person and has never met him, I came to know about his honesty and dutiful working from media that pleased me and that is why I decided to reward him from my own pocket.”
Sagheer further said that besides handing over the reward cheque for the TI to the IG, he has requested him to felicitate the officer with citation from the department so that other police personnel also get inspired for doing laudable work.
The BMC leader of Opposition during his meeting with the IG Bhopal also raised concern over increasing activities of gambling and Satta and sale of heroin and other drugs in the city particularly in Narela assembly constituency areas. He also handed over a memorandum in this regard to the IG demanding strict action to curb these activities.
He said in the memorandum that the drugs are the cause of all crimes and one of the major reasons of deteriorating law and order situation of the state capital, hence strict action should be taken against the drug paddlers and the gambling dens operating in the city.
