loP: CM made a mockery of farmers' compensation

Published on:

leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh has alleged that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made mockery of the farmers in the name of compensation to their damaged crops.

He said that compensation of Rs 1 to Rs 20 was given to the farmers of Sehore district, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Kirshi Bima Yojana and it is CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s home district.

leader of Opposition said that the Government is cheating the farmers. In Vidisha district too, the situation is same where the Chief Minister organised event by spending lakhs of rupees.

In Sheopur district, 17,000 farmers opted for the insurance scheme and one of the farmers whose crop was damaged due to hail storm was provided Rs 56.14 at an event in Bargawan while the premium was paid in the range of Rs 327 to Rs 3,000.

Raising concern over farmers of 40 drought ridden districts who are debt ridden, pending huge electricity bills, the Government is augmenting pain of the farmers by providing such compensations.

The declarations made after spending lakhs of rupees on ‘Krishi Manthan’ programme to address drought situation in future have never implemented. In the state more than 112 farmers committed suicide due to the lack of proper implementation of schemes. Meanwhile, the Government would recover around Rs 1,000 crore from Panchayat Sachivs of the state as an additional Rs 4,500 has been given from year 2016. In the year 2017 when it was found the recovery started and has been continuously done. From every Panchayat Secretary Rs 54,000 would be deducted from their salary. Action should be taken against those who have made the blunder.
