leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh has asked Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to fulfil his promise made to people of Satna during 2008 Assembly elections for opening a medical college there.
In a statement, Singh said that the Chief Ministers makes so many promises that he forgets. He advised him to maintain a diary of his announcement so that people donot face the problems with his (Chouhan’s) habit of forgetting.
He said that people of Satna are waiting for the medical college since 2002, when the then UPA Government at Centre had selected Satna town for the medial college. Singh has raised this issue several times in the State Assembly.
During assembly elections in 2008, the Chief Minister had declared that he would open medical college in Satna, but like any other announcements, he forgot this one and even 10 years after the announcement, the college was not opened.
Singh lauded the joint efforts by different organisations of Satna district demanding medical college in the district. Recently, representatives of all the political parties, traders’ associations, social organisations and local people agitated there.
Singh further said that besides reservation of land for medical college, lands have been reserved for major railway station and aerodrome, as Satna is a major industrial town now. Singh said that he would continue to support the agitation for the cause of people of Satna.
