The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged that the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State is gearing up to immerse one lakh crore rupees of the people of the State from the banks of Narmada while loot of Rs 33000 crore has already started.

AAP Madhya Pradesh convener Alok Agarwal while addressing media persons here on Wednesday said, “CM Chouhan who is doing Narmada Sewa Yatra is going to immerse the people of State in the name of electricity from the banks of Narmada. The loot of Rs33,000 crore has already begun from the three power houses constructed on the banks of Narmada while the three under construction power house projects on completion would immerse further Rs1 lakh crore of the people.”

Agarwal further said three power houses including Singaji phase one, Jhabua power in Siwni and BlA Power in Gadarwara have completed. Due to costly electricity of these power houses the State Electricity Regulatory Commission in its tariff order refused to purchase electricity from these three power houses. But despite this, without purchasing single unit electricity from these power houses the fixed charges for these power houses would have to be paid as per rules, he added.

He said that as per rules the common man would have to pay Rs1322.5 crore without consuming a single unit from these three power houses constructed on the bank of Narmada. The agreements for these are for twenty five years thus the people would be looted of Rs33,000 crore in 25 years, he added.

He claimed that the AAP had on earlier occasion proved that the agreements done with Jhabua Power and BlA power are totally illegal. Besides, these three power houses three more power houses are under construction on the banks of Narmada including NTPC’s thermal power station ay Gadarwara, NTPC’s super thermal power station at Khargone and Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company’s Singaji Thermal power House Phase 2. The fixed charge for these three would be Rs4,000 crore per year. Due to costly electricity the state would not be able to purchase electricity from these three too but we would have to pay the fixed charge for twenty five years as per the rules, in this manner the people of state would be looted of another Rs1 lakh crore, he added.
