The State Government has decided to reduce the license fees of wine contract. The license fees of the contract has been reduced by 10 per cent.

Most of the contractors of the State protested against the new excise policy of 2014-15. They did not renew their liquor contracts. Hence, 905 liquor shops in 36 districts have not got their new licences. More then 100 wine shops of Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Shivpuri and Datia are still waiting for the contractors. Tender distribution process for the second phase has been started for the remaining shops and last date for application is February 12. The condition of contract disposal of wine shops in Indore district has been most disappointing. Out of shops costing Rs 600 crore the contracts of only Rs 83 crore shops have been disposed.

Due to protest by the contractors, the target of 10,600 crore of revenue could not be finalised. In the new excise policy a target of earning Rs 5,800 crores of revenue was kept. But due to the protest by the wine contractors the Government the target has been reduced.
