A play depicting the life of Sant Singaji and showcasing the traditions and cultures of Nimar was staged through a play ‘Samjhe le Aao Re Mana’. The play was staged here on Wednesday at Prabhat Ganguly Rangbandh Memorial Hall, Madhya Pradesh School of Drama (MPSD).
Directed by Assistant Director of MPSD Kanhaiyalal Kaithwas, the play was wonderfully staged by the students of final term of MPSD. While talking to The Pioneer, Director of MPSD Sanjay Upadhyay said, “This play is based on the culture and traditions of the Nimar district of Madhya Pradesh.” Elaborating further he said,
“The play is prepared on the basis of an expedition trip of the students to Nimar.” Notably the students of MPSD visited Nimar in the month of October where they minutely studied the history including the culture and tradition of Nimar. They had one-to-one conversation with the people living there for years and on that study the play Samjhe le Aao Re Mana was prepared. The play did not wholly focused on the life of Sant Singaji, but it took the audience to an exotic expedition to the streets of Nimar on stage.
The play was staged in Nimari (Nimadi) language. On asking about staging the play in a regional language, Upadhyay said, “Theatre has its own language and with it every theatre lover would have enjoyed it.” Further, the language was not so difficult to understand for the audience during the show. With some symbolic and abstract depictions the play was wonderfully staged. Showing the traditions and culture of Nimar through its folk songs and dance the play became more zestful to watch.
later, in the play the life of Sant Singaji was depicted. He was a common man who led his life really simply. It is said that Sant Singaji was a post man during his young age. But, his devotion towards God and his Guru Sant Mahavir was so much that he sacrificed all the materialistic things and inclined towards the path of divinity. The play took the audience on the voyage from Sant Sigaji’s childhood to his death. It was an enthralling experience for the audience to watch such a show. With more use of music, the play seemed as a musical play and the wonderful performance left the audience mesmerised.
