A Hindi play ‘lekhak Banane Wala,’ a satire on today’s theatre industry, was staged on Friday.
The play was staged to mark the conclusion of a two-day fest organised at Antarang Hall, Bharat Bhavan. The fest was organised to pay tribute to one of the noted writers and theatre artist Santosh Chaubey. The programme was organised to observe his 60th birth anniversary.
Directed by Anoop Joshi aka Bunty, the play was wondrously performed by the artistes of Third Bell theatre group, Bhopal. The play is written by Santish Chaubey and it is a satirical comment over the contemporary situation occurring in the theatre or entertainment industry.
The story of the play revolves around a young boy Manmohan, who wants to become a writer.
Manmohan is a young boy, who aspires to become a writer. Since childhood, he loves to write poems and stories. But he felt that his language and his style was not upto the mark because of which he will lost his passion for writing and will not be able to fulfill his dream of becoming a writer.
As he thought all about it, he came across an advertisement that states ‘We Make Writers’. The advertisement was all about an academy that claimed it creates writers. The academy head also claimed that he can actually make an aspirant a famous writer.
Tempted by the advertisement, Manmohan take admission in the academy. The whole year he tried and tried but was unable to bring out ‘that creative person’ in him. Soon he realised that it was a waste of time and money and no one can make any other person a writer.
Talking about the play, director Anoop Joshi, said, “Today everything has become monetary. The ethics and the emotional attachment have lost somewhere. This play was an endeavour to bring out this bare truth.”
The audience enjoyed the play a lot. The light design and the matured acting skills of the actors was all the capturing point of the play.
