Legislators on high-risk of infection, says Speaker

Legislators are at greater risk of infection in the Corona pandemic because being a public representative, social distancing among the people is not possible, expressed concern Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Assembly Girish Gautam.

He was interacting with the media after the oath-taking ceremony of Ajay Tandon, the newly elected MLA from Damoh. He said here that about 80 percent of the MLAs have got vaccinated. Despite this, its MLA is not free from danger.

The reason behind this was that the regional people try to submit their application in the hands of the MLA, contrary to the Corona guide line fixed by the government. Many times the physical distance is not adhered.

Earlier, in response to a question, he told that the MP Assembly is in favour of making the proceedings of the House live and all arrangements are been made for this. This is also expected to facilitate assembly operations.

Assembly Speaker Girish Gautam said that newly elected member Ajay Tandon was sworn in and because of the Corona spread, it was not possible to hold the House yet and the time for the next session is long.

On the question of the selection of the chairman of the Public Account Committee, Gautam said that the name is being awaited. It will be announced as soon as the name comes. Explain that as per tradition, the post of the chairman of this committee has been with the opposition party. Therefore, the responsibility of name selection is currently on the Congress.
