The Madhya Pradesh New and Renewable energy department will start providing lED bulbs to the citizens in a couple of weeks. The department has completed the process regarding selling the bulbs on subsidised rates.
It would be launched from Ujjain and within a month the lED bulbs would be available for citizens in Bhopal.
The reliable lED bulbs would be available at the cost of mere Rs85 per bulb if paid or else if they opt for instalment it will cost Rs90 per bulb.
Each 9-watt bulb comes with a three year warranty and complete replacement if any complaint is registered. The energy consumption is reduced by 91 per cent with this bulb as compared to ordinary bulbs.
If a person wants to pay in cash, it costs only Rs85 per bulb and he can buy unlimited number of bulbs at this rate. If he wants to buy it on instalment then he has to pay a down payment of Rs15 per bulb and the remaining amount (Rs75) will be collected from him in five instalments along with his electricity bill.
Publicity officer of the Madhya Pradesh New and Renewable energy department OP Sharma said that three crore lED bulbs will be sold. The bulbs will be made available to the citizens at the MPSEB collection counters by installing canopy next to it and also at MP New and Renewable energy department there will be a kiosk especially for the sale of the bulbs, he added.
Sharma informed that the complete scheme of lEB bulbs would be implemented with the help of MPSEB. The Board would have special counters at places including the Urja Bhawan’ where people may get the lED bulbs.
“This scheme will be launched sometime in March and benefit many citizens” said Sharma.
To buy the bulb one has to produce identity proof or electricity bill. By paying cash a person can buy as many bulbs as he wants, but when he opts for instalment the maximum he can get is four bulbs at a time.
“The cost determined for the lED bulbs is lowest, as compared to other States that have already launched this scheme,” said Sharma.
