A lecture on the subject "Swaraj, Swarashtra and Self" was organised at Sanchi Buddhist Indian University of Knowledge Studies on Saturday.

The seminar was held under the series of lectures of the Amrit Mahotsav of independence. In this lecture, Naveen Dixit, Assistant Professor of the Indian Philosophy Department, spoke on the concept of freedom, swaraj and nation.

Dixit said that since the time of independence movement, 'nation' has meant - a country which has its own independent governance system, which is not divided into princely states and which is politically, strategically and geographically united. Naveen Dixit said that the French Revolution of 1792 created the consciousness to establish a democratic system of governance in place of dynastic rule all over the world.

Naveen Dixit said in his lecture also said that even through the education during that time, people were awakened and started demanding an independent state. In 1909, Mahatma Gandhi wrote a book named "Hind Swaraj" in which the concept of the nation was clearly conceptualised.

Dixit said that in Gandhi's concept of Swaraj, united all mill owners, mill workers, women and men, intellectuals, laborers.

He also mentioned the spirituality and philosophy of India while discussing 'Self'. He said that man is a spiritual, philosophical and religious system in itself. He explained 'Self' in Nyaya Vaishishtha, Mimamsa Darshan, Samkhya Darshan, Advaita Darshan, Charvaka Darshan, Buddhism and Jainism and told that India was a complete swaraj in these times.

It is to be noted that lectures are being organised every week at Sanchi University as part of the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. The Government of Madhya Pradesh along with the whole country is celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav of independence when it is 75 years of independence.
