Leader of Opposition strongly reacts to Thakur’s statement

On the statement of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Minister Usha Thakur, Leader of Opposition Dr. Govind Singh termed Madhya Pradesh government as Talibani. He even said that Usha Thakur has taken training from the Taliban.

In Mhow, Minister Usha Thakur had said in a programme– rape is committed by the accused in society, but he is punished between the walls of the jail. By doing this, other criminals are not afraid.

“I want the rapists of daughters to be publicly hanged and the funeral of such people should not even be allowed. Let eagles and crows nibble the body of such a person. When everyone watches this scene, no one will dare to touch the daughters again,” Thakur said.

Thakur made the comments while addressing a gathering at Kodariya village of Mhow tehsil in Indore district on Monday night. A video of the Mhow MLA’s remarks surfaced on social media.

Leader of Opposition Govind Singh said, I pity the thinking of Minister Usha Thakur. India is a democratic country. Usha Thakur has taken Talibani training. It is not possible in this country to be hanged publicly. They make such statements in the guise of power.

He further said that there is an act in Madhya Pradesh according to the constitution, but it is the inability of the government that it could not provide such evidence against any rapist, due to which they could be hanged. The power to punish lies with the judiciary, not the executive. And if she is giving such statements publicly, then the law will take its own course.

Talking to reporters at his residence in Bhopal, Dr. Govind Singh said – The government does not have the right to punish illegally. The court has the right to punish. Court can punish, house can be demolished. The Chief Minister has created such an atmosphere of fear that the way the Taliban created terror in Afghanistan, a similar government is being run in Madhya Pradesh. All the houses were demolished. If a person commits a crime in a joint family, then present evidence against the culprit and get him punished. Why is this work not being done? It means the government is incompetent.

Raising the question regarding the bulldozers running on the houses of the accused of any crime, the leader of the opposition said – I am strongly opposed to the fact that the government is arbitrarily destroying people's property. Demolishing the house if one brother commits a crime, he destroys the other brother's property. Such people should go to court, I will help them.
