Lack of permanent medical staff and an acute shortage of ventilator and other medical instruments have left the District Hospital in a sorry state. The entire system of the DH has collapsed as most of the doctors and other medical staff has been sent on attachment.
To add to the worries, Dr Mridul Saxena , the CMHO has gone on a long leave leaving the hospital rudderless.
According to sources in the District Hospital distribution of necessary drugs besides administrative work, has been badly affected due to the absence of the required medical staff. Most of the patients are being referred to JAH, resulting in an overload there.
Even the referral rate of new born babies in the Special New Born Care Unit has gone above 23.33% against th normal rate of 15%. If the referral rate is above 15% the SNBCU is considered to be dysfunctional.
As patients continue to suffer at the District Hospital due to lack of basic facilities the JAH Group of Hospitals is getting crowded affecting the quality of services there too.
Taking advantage of the situation at the DH, the private hospitals are doing brisk business by over charging heavily. Earlier, the District Collector, Anurag Chaudhary had taken a serious view of the deteriorating situation at the DH and had instructed the CMHO to immediately put things in order.
However, the CMHO went on a long leave, leaving things as they were.
