The delay in allotment of land is holding up the Nal-Jal scheme to provide clean drinking water to the citizens of Pithampur municipality.
On the initiative of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Nal-Jal scheme was prepared and a piece of land was to be allotted to every region, so that the residents could get clean drinking water. The Pithampur Nal-Jal scheme is worth Rs 28.50 cr and should have been commenced by now. Under this scheme, every citizen will be provided 70 litres of water daily. Pithampur Municipality CEO Madhu Saxena told The Pioneer that collector Dhar CB Singh has allotted 60 m x 60 m land besides the national highway near Sanjay water reservoir Pithampur. The delay in allotment of land was resulting in the delay of the project. Now the water tank and filter plant will be constructed near the Hanuman temple.
Under the Nal-Jal-Yojna clean drinking water will be provided to each and every house of Pithampur Municipality area and in this project four overhead water tanks, ground water tank, filter plant and water pipelines will be set up in Pithampur Municipality area. The used water coming out of the houses will be recycled for plantation, gardening and construction work and the water will be stored in the nagar palika area to increase the water level and for this survey work has been initiated.
It is to be noted that a scheme of collecting solid waste from each house is ongoing in Pithampur Nagar Palkia area in which manure is produced from organic waste and is sold to farmers on a no-profit-no-loss basis.
Plastic and other wastes are recycled and the useless waste is dumped and is used as land fill.
