The Kolar Six Lane Project of the capital Bhopal is now in the final stage. After the tender is opened, it has now been sent to the authority for approval. The new road will have footpaths, dividers and lighting in the middle, the total cost of the project is said to be Rs 233 crore which will benefit 4 lakh population.
Another bridge will be constructed near the Sarv-Dharma Bridge. PWD officials claim that the road will be made anew in 12 months from the start of the work. Till now the date of tender had been changed thrice. The election code of conduct also became a hindrance.
The length between Kolar Road's start point to Bairagarh Chichli is 11Km. Meanwhile, many big areas including Sarv-Dharma, Mandakini, Bimakunj, Kanha Kunj, CI, Chuna Bhatti area, Nayapura, Lalita nagar, Gehukheda is being covered by this road. People of more than 100 colonies come and go through this road, but the condition of the road is poor. In the rain, the whole road has become dilapidated. This makes it difficult for people to pass through.
Presently there is a lot of traffic on the road. Especially between 10 am to 12 am and 5 to 8 pm. Due to this, the situation of jam is also created. Therefore, about six months ago, the PWD had prepared a project to convert the road into six lanes.
With the model code of conduct for the urban body elections came into force, the project tender was delayed. Due to this the project file could not proceed. The PWD expedited the tender process as soon as the model code of conduct was over. After this the tenders were opened on 13 April. After the tender is opened, it has now been sent to the authorities. From here, the tender will be approved after some process is completed.
Along with increasing the width of Kolar Road, the width of Sarv-Dharma Bridge will also be increased. At present the bridge is quite narrow. It often gets jammed here too. Therefore, another bridge will be built near the existing bridge. This will bring great relief to the passers-by.
