Kolar receives water supply

After around 37 years, Kolar road residents would finally receive water from Kerwa dam which would be carried to them from 13 km distance.

Celebrating water supply from Kerwa dam in Kolar area, Jal Mahotsav was organised by BJP MlA from Huzur constituency Rameshwar Sharma, witnessing massive gathering welcoming the water which would end water woes of the citizens in the coming summer season.

The project worth Rs 52 crore was made around four years ago and after three years the project was started.  In the first phase two colonies of Kolar would get water supply and in the later phase complete Kolar area would get water.

The testing of the water pipeline was conducted for the past one week but when the water supply was made in lalita Nagar leakages were found due to which roads were water lodged.

Interestingly, Kolar area is not supplied with water through Kolar dam even the water supply pipeline passes through Kolar area.

At present around 20000 bore wells are there in Kolar area and with the water supply from Kerwa the load on the ground water would decrease and water problem faced by the Kolar residents during summer season would be addressed.

Among other projects related with water supply, Kolar was neglected in Narmada water supply project.

At the time of the planning Kolar was not included in the project and later when the water crisis surfaced in Kolar area water supply from Kerwa was found feasible and was implemented.
