Kiss of love: Meeting to chalk out plan on Nov 13

After rocking southern and northern parts of the country, the controversial Kiss of love is all set to knock the doors of Central India through Bhopal, where a group of students is meeting on November 13 to chalk out the format, date, time and venue of the programme.

This could be held on coming Raahgiri Day, observed on every Sunday, on Van Vihar road, near Upper lake.

Arunika Wilson, pursuing her postgraduation from Bhopal School of Social Science (BSS) College and one of the organizers of the vent while talking to The Pioneer said, “The Kiss of love has been painted with wrong colours as it is not only about the lips locking, it is about more than that. It is about freedom of individual, it is voice against unnecessary moral policing over the young generation.”

Mohsin Khan another BSS student pursuing his graduation and the main organiser of the program said, “We have called a meeting on November 13 at Chinar Park in which students from many colleges of the city including National law Institute University (NlIU), Institute for Excellence in Higher Education, Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Gandhi Medical College (GMC), BSS, Jagran lakecity University and others would gather to finalise the format of the program.”

Khan further said that besides deciding the format of the programme we would also decide the issues to be associated with it as unlike the programs held at other places we want to make it an issue based programme. The issues that could be included in the programme are women clothing, lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (lGBT) issues and youth issues. He said the meeting would also decide the date, time and venue of the programme that is most likely to be held on any Sunday on the Boat Club Road during Raahgiri Day.

He said that we are opposed to the moral policing and wish to aware and mobilise the youth against the communal hardliners. Media has also given wrong direction to event whereas in reality it is a symbolic protest against the moral police and it is not necessary that in the protest as suggested by the name the activists would be lip locking, there are many other ways that would exhibit the protest, including pecking, hugging is also a nice way to express love that we would display here and holding hands is also  fine way to express love that would also be displayed here during our Kiss of love protest against the moral police. Subin Sabukuruvila, another student in his 5th semester of BA, also part of the programme, said, “We are getting enormous response not only from the city but from neighboring cities also and are hopeful the programme would be a success.”
