Kisan Sangh seeks Congress support on farmers' issues

Angry with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in Madhya Pradesh, a delegation of State office-bearers of the farmers’ wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) - Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS)  - talked to State Congress president Arun Yadav over telephone.

The BKS informed Yadav with its problems and wished to hand over a memorandum to him. Yadav assured them full help and told them to hand over the memorandum to State Congress general secretary Chandrika Prasad Diwedi and other office bearers present in the state Congress headquarters. The BKS through its memorandum urged the State Congress president to get their problems resolved from the BJP Government of State led by Chief Mminister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The BKS said that the State Government was doing step-motherly treatment with the peasants; they are not getting fertilizers and seeds in time, besides the farmers were not getting electricity in villages. Yadav told the office bearers of the BKS that Congress had always cared for the farmers and had always struggled for their problems and it always stood besides the farmers.

Charging that Shivraj Singh Chouhan Government had stopped the bonus on maize, paddy and wheat, the Congress leader question as to what happened to the commitment he made with the farmers of the State by staging sit-in that as soon as Modi Government would come to power compensation of Rs 5000 crore would be provided to the farmers. “It’s over six month of Modi Government now, but why Chouhan has not fulfilled his promise,” Yadav said. Yadav said that the Congress party would chalk out a strategy against the BJP Government to get justice for the farmers. “Congress would struggle for the farmers of the state on the roads and in the assembly and would make all out efforts to get farmers problem resolved,” Yadav said.
