Three-day theatre festival ‘Hasya Natya Utsav’ based on comedy plays is being organized at Bharat Bhavan. On the first day of the festival, a Hindi comedy play ‘Khilchi Ke Daant’ was presented before the audience.

Directed by Sumit Saxena, the play was wonderfully presented by the artists of Ekta Theatre Group, Bhopal here on Thursday. Notably, the festival is being organized by Ekta Theatre Group that would continue till January 4.

This play is a satire on the elite class of the society. The play Khilchi Ke Daant clearly defined the difference between the wise and fool category of the society. The story of the act also gives an impression that no crime goes unpunished, whether the crime is done willingly or by mistake.

Further, it also gives a blur of the political scenario and also the awful condition of the educated youngsters of the country.

The story of the play Khilchi Ke Daant revolves around a young boy Firdaus and his uncle. Both of them earn a livelihood by collecting or buying the old and antique pieces from the houses. Both were graduate holders, but were unemployed. Usually they didn’t make a good living and were exhausted to be called as ‘Kabaddi wala’.

After many transactions privately, they were unable to earn good money and were treated badly by the people. Soon they thought of a plan to get a shop and sell the antique pieces. But, the fact was, they didn’t have any antique pieces. So they began to con the customers by making fool of them. Comically, the people who shopped from their shop were among the most renowned and elite class of the society.

After many comical situations, their reality was revealed to the people and they were soon arrested by the police. “Connecting to the present scenario of the society, the play leaves an impact over the audience that each act of an individual affects his life’s decisions and so no crime pays back,” says the director of the play.

The play was light hearted and was treated with ease on stage. The enactment of few comical situations made the audience laugh their heart out leaving them enthralled.
