Khan backs Scindia for chief ministership

Former Union Minister Aslam Sher Khan said Union Minister of State Jyotiraditya Scindia will be a good choice for chief ministership after the Assembly elections in the State. Khan further said that Union Minister Kamalnath would be the second choice of the people.

"Scindia is a popular face of the Congress and will bring victory for the party," Khan added.

Khan was talking to reporters during his to visit to Gwalior on Thursday. He said there was a lot of difference between Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh and Congressmen should not under-estimate the BJP in Madhya Pradesh.

"In Madhya Pradesh, the position of BJP is not as bad as it is in Karnataka. In Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the Chief Minister for the last eight-and-a-half years. Thus, to counter him, the Congress needs a leader of clean image like Scindia," he added. Khan further said that Digvijay Singh could be projected as Chief Minister but Digvijay himself had clarified that he was not in the race for chief ministership and he would not contest the Assembly polls. About Digvijay Singh, Kantilal Bhuria and Ajay Singh, Khan said they did not stick to discipline like they should.
