Kesharbagh overbridge to be completed soon

Published on:

The impasse over prolonged delay in Kesharbagh rail over-bridge apparently came to an end on Wednesday with contractor of the bridge assuring to complete its construction by August end this year.

Prolonged delay in completion of Kesharbagh over bridge due to technical faults in its design had earned the Indore Development Authority widespread condemnation from city people. Despite contractors of the said over bridge being reminded on umpteen occasions for its completion, its construction works continued at snail’s pace. In the past eight years since construction of this bridge was started by its contractor Paresh Agrawal, the IDA extended its deadlines on 14 occasions but to no avail.

Taking a serious note of the matter, Indore collector P Narhari on Wednesday sent PWD executive engineer RN Mishra to the project site and sorted out the matter related to design of the  over bridge with the contractor in the presence of IDA officials. Though the contractor did not give deadline that he will be able to complete construction works of the over  bridge by August 15 next month, though earlier he had already given an undertaking in writing to the IDA that he would complete work of the over bridge by August 14 this year.

In the meantime, Rau Congress MlA Jeetu Patwari along with his supporters also reached IDA office on Wednesday afternoon where they met the IDA CEO, demanding completion of the rail over bridge at the earliest.

Construction of Keshawbagh rail over bridge which will prove an important link to connect eastern Indore with western parts of the city, had been started by the IDA eight years back. However, the construction suffered enormous delays on account of lack of funds as well as technical faults in its design.
