Govindpura police have arrested Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Kasturba Hospital Dr Sunil Gupta for molesting a trainee nurse on Tuesday. The victim claimed that the doctor was pressurising her to have physical relationship with him for a long time.
The police said that the victim, after completing her nursing course, joined the hospital as an intern on November 28, 2017, and since then the doctor was making advances.
City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Govindpura area, Virendra Mishra, said that the victim alleged that the CMO of Kasturba Hospital Dr Sunil Kumar Gupta (59 years) molested her, and based on the complaint, after registering a case, the accused was nabbed and later granted bail.
Annoyed and harassed by the indecency of the senior doctor, the victim was forced to lodge a complaint with the police.In her complaint, the victim stated that she had joined as intern with the hospital last year in the month of November and after her joining she was molested and put up with the indecent actions of the accused Dr Sunil Gupta.
The victim completed her degree from BHEl Kasturba Nursing College and started her internship with Kasturba hospital. The victim went on leave for around three months after which the accused demanded to have sex with her in return for providing internship certificate.
She also claimed that in his chamber, the doctor touched her inappropriately. In her statement, the victim said that the accused used to send obscene WhatsApp messages and used to ask her to accompany him for outing. The accused used to call her in his cabin and touch her in inappropriate manner.
Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation, the police registered a case under Section 354 of the IPC and later arrested the accused.
