Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha State president Bansilal Gurjar targeting Kantilal Bhuria said, “Kantilal Bhuria should prove that Congress is not anti-farmer. If the party claims that it is well-wisher of farmers why the Congress-led UPA is taking a series of anti-farmer decisionsIJ”
Coming out sharply against the Congress, Gurjar said on Sunday that the State Congress President Bhuria should answer, “Why the Congress did not let the pro-farmer land Acquisition Bill pass in ParliamentIJ Why the Centre increased prices of chemical fertilisers three-foldIJ Why the UPA is ruining farmers by lending loans on 7 per cent interestIJ Why the Congress is not increasing the support price of wheat to `1600IJ”
“If the Centre had been sensitive to the demand of amending the 117 years old land acquisition law, the land Acquisition Bill would not have been ignored for so long. Even the union rural ministry would not have made the Bill so toothless,” he said.
“The question is for whose favour this law has been draftedIJ Even after 150 changes, there is no guarantee of rehabilitation of displaced farmers nor is there assurance of compensation,” Gurjar remarked.
“The narrow politicking by Congress on land acquisition issue has been amply proved now. Rahul Gandhi had tried to project himself as messiah of farmers at Bhattaparsaul.
But, he never tried to stop the 150 changes in land acquisition bill due to pressure from industrial houses. The farmers are being cheated by inclusion of old provisions in the new bill,” Gurjar said. At the same time, Gurjar praised Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan by saying that the he is trying to make agriculture an occupation of profit in the State.
