Kamal Nath's nod to Scindia as CM

After Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath has also endorsed the name of Union Power Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for the Chief Minister of the State.

Kamal Nath, who was in Guna on Sunday to perform the Bhumi Pujan ceremony of the Rajeev Gandhi electrification scheme, said that if the Congress gained power in Madhya Pradesh then Scindia would be the Chief Minister. Nath, while addressing the gathering on the occasion, said that the Guna district had already given a Chief Minister and now he wished that the district gave another Chief Minister to the State. “This time it is for sure that Congress would snatch power from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh and Jyotiraditya Scindia would be the Chief Minister of the State.”

However, when media persons asked Kamalnath after the programme  that in Congress the legislators elected the Chief Minister the Union Minister replied that it was his wish that Scindia became Chief Minister. “It was my personal view and the party could differ over it,” he added. Recently when Nath was asked that whether he was in the race for becoming the chief minister of the State he replied, “I never said that I want to be the Chief Minister, but I have said that if party instructs me to be the chief minister then he would not hesitate in shouldering this responsibility.”

The statement from one of the strong contender for the top job of the State has also put to rest the speculations about the groupism in the Congress and that there is any tussle within the party for the chief minister post. Earlier, sometime back Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has stated that if Congress gets power in the state after 2013 assembly polls then Scindia would be the Chief Minister of the State.
