During Bhoja's reign, there are references to the staging of plays centered on many other cultural and social subjects. The feeling comes from plays. Society gets a direction. This tradition was adversely affected during the period of foreign invaders.
However, in the whole country, efforts were being made to create national awareness through other forms of drama like kirtan, march, nautki, tamasha etc. The tradition of the theatrical stage which was going on before Vikramaditya, we get to see it in a continuous rich manner even today. Opportunities have been created in Ujjayini for the country's famous theatrical directors to perform their art, which has created opportunities for the sophistication of this theatrical genre.
Presiding over the senior theater artist Girijesh Vyas, Ujjain said that Ujjayini has a diverse culture. The mention of Ujjayini is found in the foreword of Kalidasa's plays. When the world's cultures were taking birth, Ujjayini was showing signs of a well-ordered virtuous culture through plays.
