Ridiculing” Industries Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya’s reply to the notice of Election Commission of India (ECI), the State Congress termed it as a boastful act and attempt to cover up his crimes.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president and MP Kantilal Bhuria, in a statement here, on Saturday said, “The Industries Minister in his reply to the ECI wrote that ‘I have not violated the model code of conduct. If the ECI has objection on any of my words than I took them back,’ is ridiculous, boastful and an act to hide his crime.”
Notably, Vijayvargiya during the Dussehra celebration in Indore had boasted and said, “I do not care for the model code of conduct, I keep it on tip of my foot and the let ECI do whatever it wishes to do.”
Bhuria said the model code of conduct was an integral part of democracy and Vijayvargiya’s public statement while holding a constitutional office has insulted the democracy itself and this was an unpardonable act. By taking back his objectionable words he wanted to save himself from his serious crime as the words once uttered could not be taken back. Congress believed that while taking decision over Vijayvargiya’s reply, the ECI would keep this fact in mind, he added.
He said it was the history of Vijayvargiya as a political leader that after some duration he makes controversial and objectionable statements and then tenders apologises for them. The fact is that he has started to believe that by wrecking up controversies and coming out of them clearly strengthens his political images. But this time he has hit on integral part of the democratic system - the model of conduct that has not only the ECI but every citizen of the country has also hurt by it. This is a serious crime and he should be severely punished for it, he added.
