Finally, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has served notice to Industries Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kailash Vijayvargiya who was on the collision course with it for past couple of days.
Sources informed that after getting the report from Indore Collector Akash Tripathi the ECI has decided to summon Vijayvargiya. The ECI has served notice to Vijayvargiya and has asked to clarify his stand over his controversial statement given in Indore last days. Vijayvargiya has reportedly said in a Navratri function in Indore that he did not believe in the ECI and its model code of conduct (MCC).
In the notice, the Commission stated that it has also been brought to the notice of the that during a programme of Rajput Samaj on 14th October, 2013, you had, during your speech mentioned that “o hamnein chunav ayog ko kah diya hai, ki vyavharik kam karo. Kanya bhojan ke paise diya, uski photo khich li. Nagade walo ko paisa diya uski photo khich li. Kanya bhojan karana, nagade walo ko paise dena hamari paramparao me shamil hai, ham ise nahi chhod sakte. Bhajan gana bhi hamari parampara hai. Chunao ladna chhod doonga par bhajan nahi chhod sakta. Hamko nahi radna chunao-vunao. Esi chunao achar sanhita ko tum tumare pas rakho, me esi achar sanhita ki jyada chinta nahi karta. Mene kah diya chunao ayog ko ji tumko karna ho karna, esi achar sanhita ko thokar marta hoon.”
“By this statement you have given contemptuous remarks and have shown utter disrespect and disregard to the provisions of the ‘model code of conduct’. This is also not in keeping with the high constitutional post that you occupy,” the Commission added. The Election Commission of India asked Vijayvargiya to explain by 17.00 hours of October 18, 2013 as to why action should not be taken against him for the above mentioned violations of the Model code of Conduct.
It has also been mentioned that if no reply is received within the prescribed time limit, it will be presumed that he has nothing to say and the Commission will proceed to take appropriate action without any further reference to him.
