Industry Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya's statement on his Facebook profile that he wants to stay away from election this year to pave way for his son Akash Vijayvargiya, has become a hot subject of debate in social media and in the State's media fraternity.

Seeing his statement being misconstrued, Vijayvargiya in a departure from his earlier statement, gave a clarification saying the decision not to contest the election this year was purely his personal view.

"I have observed that people are drawing different meanings from my statement. I want to make it clear that whatever I said in my earlier facebook statement was purely my personal views. That does not mean, I shall stay away from electoral politics. It is up to the party. If the party directs me to contest elections, I shall abide by the party's directives and would contest election from any region, as decided by the party," Vijayvargiya wrote on his Facebook profile.

The Minister had created ripples both in media and political circles earlier in the day by writing about his disinterest in contesting election this year. He said he had issued the earlier statement after seeing his son, Akash's increasing popularity which was clearly discernible from the large number of followers who had swarmed his Indore residence last night to greet him on his birthday (Thursday).

On his Facebook account, Vijayvargiya wrote that his son's increasing popularity made him think the whole night whether he should stay away and pave way for his son for the Assembly elections. He further wrote that this thought that crossed his mind could perhaps be the best birthday gift to his son.The State Industry Minister's statement elicited a mixed reaction on the FB with many of his followers taken aback by his decision, while others welcomed his move of quitting electoral politics.

Politicians, however, said this was just a publicity tool to create a platform for his son ahead of the Assembly elections due this year.
