Journalist attacked in Bhopal, police delay in filing complaint

Published on:

In a true example of deteriorating law and order situation in the State capital, a senior journalist was attacked by three hooligans, when he returned home after midnight on Saturday. The journalist, working as State Bureau head in Hindi newspaper Nav Duniya Dhananjay Pratap Singh sustained fracture injuries in left arm and serious muscle injuries in both legs.

Soon after Singh reached home, three hooligans barged into his house in Abhinav Homes colony falling under Ayodhya Nagar police station precincts. All the three beat Singh with steel rods and fled the scene. When he reached the police station, the cops present at the station forced Singh to stay there for over one and a half hour for lodging complaint.

The shameful part of the incident was that after arresting all the accused, the police issued a press note claiming that 'with the prompt action taken by police', the assailants were arrested.
