A jilted lover, who had shot dead a medical practitioner on her wedding day on Thursday night, has no regrets for what he has done. He told the police that he was so much distressed with the rejection by Dr Jaishree Namdev that he did whatever he did.

Dr Jaishree Namdev was getting married with Rohit Namdev at a marriage garden in Bhopal when Jaishree's cousin Anurag reached the stage and shot at Jaishree from a close range, with a country-made revolver. He opened two fires, one hit the neck of Jaishree and the second her right leg.On the basis of statements of bereaved family members, police said that Anurag is son of Jaishree's father Ghanshyam's sister. Since he has been in Bhopal for long, he remained in contact with Jaishree and was in one-sided love with Jaishree. Ghanshyam has denied that Jaishree was involved with Anurag.

However, police are investigating the facts and woulkd be able to speak out something after recording the statements of all the related persons.Family sources claimed that Jaishree's parents were aware of the misdeeds of Anurag and thus they had not invited Anurag's family for the function. However, they did not file any complaint with the police.During interrogation, Anurag told the police that he was in intense love with Jaishree and could not tolerate that she garlanded somebody else. He said that after having come to know that she was getting married, he went to Sagar and bought a country-made revolver.

He said that he had reached the venue well on time and moved around there for over one hour, but after the 'warmala' (garlanding ceremony), he stated that he could not bear the pain and reached the stage and shot her.SP North Arvind Saxena said that Arvind is fond of firearms and his pictures with weapons on the Facebook and the comments of his friends on them are evidence to this.

On Friday morning, a police team reached the scene of crime and collected important evidences. The colleagues of Dr Jaishree organized a condolence meeting at the Kamla Nehru hospital.
