After the joint rally of Opposition parties in Patna two days back, the beleaguered rebel JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav is organising an Opposition ‘Save composite culture’ meet in Indore on Wednesday.
Prominent among those who are expected to attend the meet in Indore include senior Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and Anand Sharma of the Congress, Sitaram Yechury of the CPI-M and Tariq Anwar of the NCP besides representatives of other parties. Senior Congress leaders from the State including the MP Congress Committee chief Arun Yadav also expected to take part in the meeting. ‘Save composite culture’ meet is the brainchild of rebel JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav who has openly expressed his displeasure against Nitish Kumar for joining the NDA and forming government in Bihar with support of the BJP following latter's breaking away with the Mahagathbandhan.
After Bihar's rally, Yadav in his apparent move to take up his fight against the BJP in the BJP-ruled States, has chosen Indore to organise his ‘Save Composite culture’ meet. The Indore meet assumes significance for the opposition following recent violent protests in Mandsaur and elsewhere in the State by a section of farmers. The Opposition leaders hope to build a campaign against the saffron party in the State where it has been in power there for the last 14 years.
Through this meet, the Opposition wants to generate negative public sentiments in the BJP ruled States of MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan which will go to the poll next year, the JD (U) sources informed this newspaper. The meet was organised at the national level on August 17 in which Yadav had made clear his intentions to defy his party chief Nitish Kumar’s move to ally with the BJP, claiming that the country’s secularism and pluralism was under attack in the NDA Government.
