A Hindi play Jal Tarang was staged at Ravindra Bhavan on Saturday marking the last day of Iftekhar Theatre Fest.
Directed by Ashok Mishra, the play is adopted from the story by Santosh Choubey.
The original story of the play is centered on music lover and Jal Tarang player Devashish. Which depicts the convergence of musical noise and finally the conquest of music on noise. The story is simple to hear, but the manner in which the story is presented by the writer and the director through the characters, it was interesting.
The sound pollution is affecting lives of people. The protagonist of the story also appears in dialogue and questioning the audience in this context. In the play, the music journey of Devashish was shown through a series of dialogues.
The hero and heroine played the role of three different actors. Devshish’s love and his music journey was the main point of the play.
According to the director, if there is no new experiment in any art medium, then it starts fading. While on one hand the director tried to make the presentation interesting through new experiments, on the other hand, story writer Santosh Choubey also highlighted the history of music in front of the audience through the story.
The drama performed by 45 artists was 2 hours and 10 minutes. In which a 10 minute interval was also kept. Such lengthy performances are often seen less. But the performances of group dance, music, interesting incidents and some of the major artists keep the audience glued to thier seats.
