The superstars of Bollywood have many admirers, but admirers like him are found rarely and this is not all about being a fan but more than that.
Darshan Singh from Bikaner is a unique fan of Dharmendra and calls himself the pious admirer of Dharam Paaji. Darshan, who was here on Wednesday for a private function, talked to The Pioneer about his passion for Dharam Paaji.
While sharing his memories and stories, Dharshan said, “It is been almost 34 years, when I become a die hard fan of Dharam Paaji.” Elaborating further he said, “Frankly, I never knew that I would admire this artist ever. But when I saw his movie, I gave away my heart to Dharmendra,” he added laughingly.
While sharing about his first meeting with Dharmendra, Darshan reckons, “It was 1984 when I first met Dharam Paaji. It took me 18 years to meet this superstar and heartthrob of many girls. literary I am so crazy about him that I put my job on stake and left for Mumbai just to meet him.”
Elaborating further, he said, “As I reached in front of his house in Mumbai I saw many fans shouting just to have a glimpse of him. But I wasn’t seeking an autograph. So I stood behind folding my hands. He called me up and asked me if I want an autograph. I said no, just wanted a place in your heart. So he invited me to his bungalow located at other end of the city. I said I do not know the place and he told if I am his fan I have to search for it and reach there. I found the place and since then I am meeting him on regular basis.”
Interestingly, every year Darshan Singh visits Dharam Paaji’s house on his birthday to wish him. “Dharam Paaji also visited my house in Bikaner while he was shooting there,” said Darshan.
He is one of the fans and admirers that each celebrity would want. Darshan signs off saying, “I feel really proud knowing that out of crores of fans, a star like Dharmendra knows me by my name.”
