Incessant rainfall at several places in the State continued to disrupt normal life on Monday and the Met department claimed that there are least chances of a break from the downpour in the next 3-4 days.
The western region of the State had a deficit of 11 per cent while the eastern region has received 50 per cent excess rainfall. Overall, the State has received an excess rainfall of 21 per cent till July 27.
The pattern of continuous and heavy rainfall would change when a system over the Bay of Bengal would become active by July 29 and would hit the State by August 1. It would induce rainfall in the eastern region.
Met department officials claimed that the rainfall deficit in the eastern region would decrease in the rainfall which would be induced by a system over Bay of Bengal.
A few regions have witnessed excessive rainfall in the range of 100 to 200 per cent from the normal rainfall. Ujjain has received 210 per cent excess rainfall from the normal rainfall, Rajgarh has received 201 per cent excess rainfall, Ratlam has received 158 per cent excess rainfall, Shajapur has received 137 per cent excess rainfall and Indore has received 124 percent excess rainfall, from the normal rainfall.
On the other hand, there are regions which have reported deficit rainfall. Sheopur Kalan and Anuppur have received 37 per cent less rainfall than the normal rainfall, Burhanpur received 35 percent less rainfall than the normal rainfall, Katni received 31 percent less than the normal, Balaghat received 24 percent less and Damoh received 21 per cent less than the normal.
Major rivers of the State are flowing over the danger mark creating disruption in road connectivity and traffic jams on National Highways.
Overflowing Shivna, Chambal, Narmada, Chambal and Kshipra rivers have created havoc.
Warnings of very heavy to heavy rainfall in Mandsaur, Rajgarh, Dhar, Alirajpur, Agar Malwa, Ujjain, Neemuch and Indore in the next 24 hours has been issued.
