Condemning the caricature of Prophet Mohammad published in a French magazine, Shahar Qazi Syed Mustaq Ali Nadvi claimed that there was no space for violence in Islam and the country had given rights to all citizens to protest in a democratic manner if their sentiments related to religion were hurt. Shahar Qazi Syed Mustaq Ali Nadvi said that several messages had been circulated through WhatsApp and social networking sites about the cartoon in the French magazine, which was not correct.
He appealed to stop circulating such kind of messages and requested to discuss and take request before circulating any message which could disturb the communal fabric of the city. Earlier, the Muslims had gathered at Iqbal Maidan opposing the re-publication of the cartoon. Since the people gathered in large numbers opposing the incident and several messages were doing rounds on the social networking sites, Shahar Quazi along with SP (North) Arvind Saxena convened a Press conference appealing for peace.
