Madhya Pradesh Panchayat Minister Gopal Bhargava on Monday admitted in the Assembly that irregularities to the tune of Rs 30.04 lakh had been committed in the publishing of publicity material under the Swachh Bharat Mission in Satna district.

Replying to a query Bhargava said a departmental inquiry would be initiated against Satna District Panchayats Chief Executive Officer and the Additional CEO. Besides, the official duo would be removed from the district soon.

Responding to another query Bhargava said registration of two societies were cancelled . He said seeds supplied by these societies are examined by laboratories of the Agriculture Department.

On alleged irregularities to the tune of Rs 78 lakh in construction works in Badarwas block in Shivpuris Kolaras assembly segment, Bhargava assured that he would get the matter probed.

Meanwhile, during call attention notice, Bhargava informed that the Divisional Commissioner will inquire into misappropriation of more than 55,000 quintals grain in Rewa under the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana.

Replying to a supplementary posed under a calling attention notice by Sunderlal Tiwari of Congress, Panchayat, Rural Development and Social Justice and Cooperatives Minister Gopal Bhargawa provided the assurance. However, Tiwari was dissatisfied, kept registering his protest for a long while and demanded a probe by either the lokayukta or the Economic Offences Wing.

From 2006 to 2008, a total 55,110 quintals were misappropriated in collusion with administrative officials in Rewa District. An earlier investigation brought to light graft and other inconsistencies but no action was taken. The inquiry recommended registering of a first information report but that was also not done, the Congress Member said. In his response, the Minister said that a probe is underway but taking time as the points are of a detailed nature.
