With the festival of Diwali round the corner, the rush of vehicles near different markets is posing challenges to the traffic cops. The lack of parking spaces near markets is proving as major hurdle in traffic management.

According to SHO of TT Nagar police station Rajkumar Saraf, traffic snarls at the parallel lane for the commuters at BRTS is creating big problems. The road which has been declared as zone of ‘No- Parking’ is continuously being used for parking by the vehicles owners, especially by four-wheel owners. Police personnel in a vehicle patrol in the areas near market, but they move ahead asking the vehicle owners to remove their vehicles, but after some time, when they return taking round, find that more vehicles are parked there.

Parking space was developed near Rangmahal Talkies square but as the parking space in situated a little far from the main market of TT Nagar people visiting the market avoid using the parking space and park vehicles road side.  Besides, the parking space developed near the community hall is also facing shortage of space.

For the past two days, traffic problems are being witnessed near different markets including- New market, 10 number market, MP Nagar markets and maximum parts of the old city markets. The roads leading to these markets are also facing traffic jam situation. Earlier Bhopal Municipal Corporation has arranged ‘temporary parking spaces’ for maintaining traffic flow near the busy market places providing relief for the residents who are visiting the markets for shopping during the festive season.

These arrangements are not enough to provide enough parking space and the other part of the problem is the attitude of the residents to park their vehicles in the temporary parking spaces.
