Inspect subordinate offices in 15 days, GAD directs to field officers

Published on:

The General Administration Department (GAD) has directed all field officers to inspect their subordinate offices within next 15 days. All heads of department, commissioners and collectors have been apprised of it. These directives have been issued in the context of the Chief Minister’s surprise inspections of field offices.

It is noteworthy, that the Chief Minister had undertaken surprise inspections of field offices last week as part of efforts to ensure proper delivery of public services to people and good governance. Officer-employees were suspended due to their negligence.

On the other hand, officers-employee with good performance were appreciated. The Chief Minister wishes that apart from officer-employees, their supervisory officers should also be responsible for their negligence/irregularities. Keeping this situation in view, the General Administration Department has issued directives with immediate effect to officers-employees. As per directives, clarification will also be sought from supervisory employee-officer if irregularities or problems are found on premises.

Senior officers have been asked to inspect their subordinate officers-employees’ office, workplaces and delivery of services. Responsibility for smooth delivery of services will also rest with inspecting/supervisory officers.Work of every office, workplace and section should be pre-defined so that  responsibility for irregularity or problem can be fixed immediately and action is taken.

The General Administration Department has also directed to ensure appreciation of good officers-employees. They should also be given letters of appreciation and awards. This arrangement will be implemented during the Chief Minister’s surprise inspections after February 1, 2014.
