Officials of Indore RTO under its ongoing drive against unregistered and other vehicles, which are running in the city illegally, in a major offensive on Tuesday seized as many as 115 vehicles. The drive against these vehicles will likely fetch a penalty of about Rs40 lakh to the RTO.
Informing about the combing drive against illegal vehicles, district RTO M P Singh said of 115 vehicles, which were seized on Tuesday by the department, as many as 70 cars were running in the city without bearing any registration number, while the remaining vehicles were found to be registered in other States and the vehicle owners were running these vehicles without paying any registration and other tax in Madhya Pradesh.
He said the combing operation against these vehicles will likely to fetch revenue of Rs40 to the RTO.In other major offensive, Singh said the district RTO on Monday had annulled the commercial license of a major auto dealer of the city - Bhopal Motors Private limited on the charge of selling vehicles to customers without paying its requisite tax.
He said the RTO sleuths following a raid at its business premises in Dewas Naka on February 4 last month had come across various anomalies. Scrutiny of documents received from the dealer's office revealed that it had sold 33 vehicles to its customers without registration and paying the taxes in contravention to the Madhya Pradesh Motor Vehicles Act, 1989.
Singh said the auto dealer has been asked to stop sale of its vehicles and surrender its commercial license with the RTO with immediate effect. The drive against illegal vehicles in the city will continue till March 31 this month, he added.
